Cyto-Form Complete!

I finally finished my latest sculpture "Cyto-Form." It is cast in solid blue crystal, i.e., glass, and I have to say, I'm in LOVE--hard to sell this one--but I have to!  The really cool thing about it is that it can be arranged in umpteen (anyone care to insert real math here?) different ways to create different sculptural designs... in this way it's quite customizable! This is because the sculpture is comprised of three separate elements that can be propped, stacked or otherwise situated to whatever affect is desired.  I have shown some possibilities in these images here.

I like blood cells as an expression of art.  Their shape alone is interesting and lovely to me, and then there's their function/meaning--an altogether greater point of fascination.  My use of blood cells are largely inspired by the idea of the foundations of life and energy--the things that make life possible.  This might be the perfect sculpture for someone in the medical or biological profession!  If you are interested in more photos or information let me know.  This the ONLY one of its kind, and if it's still available it can be purchased in my Etsy shop! Nervous Forest #1

Just added this bronze sculpture to my store. It is awaiting a new home, but in the meantime I am happy to display it in my home!  I am exploring nerves as an artistic expression lately... I believe there will be more to come on these!

Colorado Trip

I went to Pagosa Springs Colorado last week with my family.  We had a great time.  Between the hot mineral spring baths, charming little shops, snow-play possibilities, and incredible mountain scenery and explorations---This place captured my heart!

Nervous Forest #2

My most recent charcoal drawing... "Nervous Forest #2."  It is 24 x 36" and conceptually along the lines as the first "Nervous Forest" (see next post.)  The idea was to connect natural forms in a way that a person could sympathize with.  The trees' taproots become neurons all connecting to one another in a great collective entity.  Can they think? Can they feel? Would a forest have a reason to be nervous?  My original ideas for this work were motivated by those questions.

I put it in a frame for temporary protection, but it really does deserve a bigger, better frame.  If someone is interested in purchasing this art, I will sell it with this frame, but I hope re-framing it will also be considered.

Gotta Start Somewhere!

It's a bone chilling winter day, and even tho I have lots to do, I want to get this blog going somehow.  I have belabored over what to post first for a few weeks now, so I've decided just to post some photo's of some of the art I've made in recent years.  This seems like a good enough ice breaker!  Please feel free to comment, or ask questions, and thanks for looking!

This was my first completed, artwork using cast glass and bronze... yes, it's a penis cannon.  I can't take credit for the book though, just thought is was a clever base.
